The National Film Academy, in partnership with digital streaming platform VooVix, has officially announced the launch of a brand-new web series titled Debated — a smart, fast-paced, and culturally charged comedy talk format, set to begin filming throughout August.
Commissioned exclusively to engage VooVix’s entertainment-hungry subscriber base — now exceeding 4.7 million viewers worldwide — Debated promises to be the internet’s next breakout hit. The series is scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, 14th August 2025, with two episodes released weekly across VooVix and all major social platforms, including YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.
Filmed in the iconic setting of the London Tube, Debated places comedians, creators, and public figures in the hot seat. Each guest draws a mystery topic from a signature red box and debates it in real-time with the show’s host. With a quick-fire bell system to agree or disagree, and a finale segment titled “What’s Your Hot Take?”, the show fuses humour with social commentary in an instantly bingeable format.
The series is produced by the award-winning team behind the National Film Awards, National Film & TV Awards, and National Reality TV Awards — the very same group currently preparing to launch the inaugural National Comedy Awards in 2026.
With names like Jonathan Ross and Ricky Gervais already rumoured to feature in upcoming episodes, Debated is positioning itself as both a stage for top-tier comedy royalty and a discovery platform for emerging voices. The producers have also confirmed that the series will actively spotlight up-and-coming stand-up comedians, giving fresh talent the opportunity to be seen and shared across a global audience.
In a media landscape that’s constantly shifting toward short-form, personality-driven storytelling, Debated is arriving at the perfect time — with cultural relevance, industry credibility, and an in-built audience ready to watch.
