The South Africa Fashion Awards (SAFA) have unveiled their official nominations ahead of the inaugural ceremony on 4 October 2025 at Hotel Sky, Sandton. The awards, an extension of the internationally acclaimed World Fashion Awards, mark a decisive step in recognising South Africa’s creative industries on the global stage.

Spanning designers, models, stylists, influencers, retailers, and sustainable innovators, the shortlist reflects both established names and emerging talent. Thebe Magugu, Rich Mnisi, and Laduma Ngxokolo headline the Best Fashion Designer category, while icons such as Bonang Matheba, Blue Mbombo, and Kim Jayde are recognised for their cultural influence.

Public voting is open via Telephonos, with winners to be revealed live on VooVix TV. Beyond the glitz, the awards align with the Diamond Children’s Foundation, underscoring fashion’s role not only as an industry but as a driver of social good.

Iconic fashion designer, David Thale will also be recieving the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award as well as 7 surprising icons due to recieve the Outstanding Contribution to Fashion Award

The arrival of SAFA confirms South Africa’s place within the wider conversation of global fashion, acknowledging the country’s unique aesthetic vocabulary — from heritage streetwear to eco-conscious design. In a climate where African fashion continues to rise in visibility, these awards present an important reminder: creativity here is not peripheral but central to the future of fashion.
